I made the decision last year to postpone the purchase of a new PC to this year. I’m in no hurry to buy the components and build the PC by myself but I figured it would be interesting for everyone if I would write a monthly post that contains a suggested build for the PC

For the longest time the only worthwhile network manage (especially of the wireless kind) was the GNOME Network Manager. Once KDE hit release 4 their network manager KNetwork Manager was plagued with issues to the point where it was nearly unusable. KDE 4.3 is out now and the KNetwork Manager has matured quite a bit.

Some Windows 7 users have reported a problem with the operating system that they were experiencing after installing the latest Microsoft security update on November 25 although there are some incidents where this problem seems to have been reported earlier than that. What happens is that the operating system will display a black desktop after startup with no options to interact with the operating system at this point. Microsoft is currently investigating the issue

The Opera desktop developers have released the final version of Opera 10.10 after releasing several beta builds in the past weeks. The final build is exactly the build that was released as a beta on Saturday, users who have installed that build are still encouraged to download and install Opera 10.10 from the Opera website
